Scholars (including RPF) & GSE/VTT Participants
The lively orientation programs (Scholars in the fall, GSE/VTT in the winter) are designed to improve the effectiveness of The Rotary Foundation’s Educational Programs:
- Learn about Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation
- Build a lifelong relationship with Rotary
- Share and learn about cultural differences
- Learn about being an “Ambassador of Goodwill” for their country and Rotary
- Grasp the Rotary ideal of “Service Above Self” through active participation in humanitarian service projects
- Gain tools for preparing to be future community and world leaders.
Foundation Alumni
Former Scholars, Rotary Peace Fellows and GSE/VTT participants play a key role as they share their personal experience:
- Strengthen their connection with Rotary
- Provide critical insights, tips and survival skills for current recipients
- Bond with the current participants
- Invite current recipients to participate in Alumni networking programs and activities.
Rotarian Counselors
Rotarians are the critical “link” connecting awardees to a lifelong relationship with Rotary:
- Provide recipients with important information about Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation
- Assist awardees and Counselors in understanding cultural issues
- Assist recipients in their planning and preparation for the coming year
- Welcome awardees into the “Family of Rotary,” through Rotary Club activities, service projects, friendships, and continuing involvement
- Enroll entire Rotary Club in Sponsoring and Hosting functions.
District Leaders
- Experience the “cream of the crop” of outstanding young people from around the world
- Confirm the wisdom of financial support for TRF
Educational Programs
- Encourage the awardees to participate in District events and develop financial support for their participation
- Learn the “ins & outs” of NORTHEAST LINK’S contribution to all the participants
- Experience the awardees’ dedication to improve the quality of life for the people in their home community and country
- Encourage Rotarians worldwide to increase
the educational opportunities for young people from low-income countries
- Understand the value of leadership in promoting world peace and understanding
- Provide speaking opportunities for awardees at Club, District and Community functions.
